William Hill covers all realms of online gambling
I can remember back in the early 2000’s playing online poker at William Hill. At the time it was one of the best sites to play poker and they had plenty of easy games. Fast forward more than a decade, and we now see William Hill as one of the largest online gambling outfits the world has known.
Founded way back in the mid-1960s, William Hill has grown leaps and bounds. What started as phone/postal betting service, is now a multibillion dollar betting company.
Although they get their roots from the live sports betting side decades ago, the William Hill online casino didn’t get started until 2000. Their poker room and sports betting site were launched in 1998, but online gambling was not as popular back then.
Now the casino side of William Hill is one their largest entities, servicing most of Europe in 18 languages and 11 currencies.
William Hill is located in Gibraltar. They are regulated by the Gibraltar Gaming Commission and hold licenses in the U.K. and Italy.
Software providers are pooled from several vendors allowing them to provide a wide range of games and jackpots. Some of the bigger providers include; Playtech, Crytopologic, WagerWork.
The casino is broken down into 3 sections. There’s the standard casino that offers most of their library of games. A Vegas style casino that has unique games and a Vegas like atmosphere. And the Macau casino that caters to the Asian market.
William Hill is more of an old school casino that meets current trends. They stick with many of the old style features and the design of the site is still a bit lagging in that department. It’s very busy with tabs everywhere that can be a bit much, especially for newer players.
But once you get used to all the action going on, it feels more like a casino wonderland, than a jumbled mess.
William Hill is busy, but they have so much to offer. I spent an entire day just seeing what all I could get myself into. There are no shortages of games and ways to play. The mobile casino had me putting down the laptop and laying in my comfy chair next to my trusty dog playing Blackjack for hours. Sad to say he won’t be getting any new toys any time soon.
When I was asked to review William Hill, I was excited to give the casino a try. I have used their sportsbook and poker room in years past, but for some reason, never made it to the casino. So here I am after a few days of playing, having fun and winning a little bit of money, (no thanks to my dog by the way) and ready to share my experience with you.

Games and software
Games and quality of those games is always a priority for me. I knew William Hill would have a high quality selection of games and they did. Hundreds of classics, and new games make up their library of casino games.
Pretty much any casino game you can think of, William Hill has. The table games are deep, with variations on Blackjack, Roulette and other favorites. They even have a Marvel Comics Themed Roulette. And speaking of Marvel, many of their slots are based on popular Marvel characters like Spiderman and the Avengers.
Finding the perfect slot to play is rather easy the way they break them down. You can scroll through the entire selection, or use choose from how many pay lines a slot has to view that category. Unless you have a specific slot in mind, you will want to use the search functions since they have so many slots.
What I found most intriguing was the way they added different styles of casino. The Vegas Casino is an entirely separate casino with some of the same games you can find in the normal casino. But also many games exclusive to the Vegas casino.
The idea behind the Vegas casino to offer players a real Vegas experience. While you can never replicate such an experience without being there, William Hill does a nice job of adding in a Vegas like atmosphere.
The other casino is a Macau casino. This is geared towards the Asian markets and only has Asian style betting games. Don’t worry though, you don’t need to be Asian to play there. Anyone can play one of the dozens of Asian games William Hill has added.
Once you’re a member of William Hill, you can access all casinos from one account.
Other games available range from Bingo and Keno, to scratch cards and exclusive games only playable at William Hill using the download, instant play, or mobile casino. The mobile casino works on Android and Apple products.
Promotions and bonuses
William Hill has several unique bonuses for new players and ongoing customers.
The new player bonus is available in 3 separate formats. The first choice is a 100% match up to £150. To claim this bonus, click the claim button when you first log in and it will be credited to your account. This bonus is available for play using all William Casino types. i.e. instant play, download, live etc.
The second option is the download only bonus. This bonus is only available if you download the casino software. You will get a 150% match bonus up to £200.
For those that plan on making larger deposits, you can go for the high roller bonus that gives you up to £300 in match bonuses.
All bonuses need to be claimed when you make your first log in. You can pick which one you want, dependent on your preferences. Only 1 bonus may be claimed at a time.
Your 2nd deposit is eligible to receive an additional bonus of up to £100 at a 75% match rate.
All bonuses must meet certain requirements in order to receive and clear the bonus amounts. A minimum deposit of at least £10 for the download and regular bonus. A minimum of £1,000 for the high roller bonus.
Rollover requirements must also be met. To clear the bonus amount, you must wager 20x the bonus + deposit. Most games will count towards clearing the bonus, but at varying levels.
All slots and scratch cards count towards 100% of the bonus. Pai Gow, Red Dog, Let it Ride, Casino Hold Em and Roulette count as 25%.
Baccarat, Blackjack, Stravaganza, Craps and Video Poker as 20%.
Blackjack Switch will only count as 5%. All other games not mentioned count as 100%.
Ongoing promotions run all the time at William Hill. The comp points are a great way to get added value just for betting on their games. For every £10 wagered, you earn 1 point. The more points earned the higher level of VIP you become. Your points can be exchanged for cash bonuses at amounts dependent on your current level.
Occasional free spins are also available on certain games for you try out. You can check your player promotions tab from your profile to see if you have any new spins, or bonuses waiting for you.
I had to contact customer support almost immediately to find out if you needed separate accounts for the different casinos. My response was exactly 15 seconds using the live chat. The operator was helpful, polite and answered my question to my satisfaction.
Other options include phone support and email. Email is the slowest option at up to 24 hours, sometimes longer, with live chat being the fastest.
Security and Payments
Ok, on to security and payments. This is where you get to hear all the boring stuff about how safe and reliable William Hill is.
That was a test by the way. If you think security and safety are boring, then shame on you.
William Hill is far from boring, and far from being unsafe. You don’t stay in business for over 70 years by running a shady operation. This is a company, and a brand that is recognized all over the world. Their name is seen on football clubs, stadiums and billboards throughout the U.K.
William Hill follows all the necessary regulation requirements and has routine audits performed by 3rd parties. You can see all their fair play information to check for yourself.
They are also vigilant when it comes to safe gambling. If there’s a group dedicated to gambling addictions, William Hill is a part of it. They even suggest you set limits inside the cashier. The options are available to set a loss limit, deposit limits and time play limits.
The cashier itself has all the deposit and cash out options you will need. The easiest to use, are credit cards like Visa, and the eWallets such as PayPal, and Neteller.
Processing times for cash outs are very short, and you can have your money within 24 hours when using an eWallet. Credit Cards can take between 3 to 5 days. All other transfer options may take up to 10 days.
If you can avoid using the transfers, its best to do so. William Hill also offers in house deposits. You can go to any one of the live shops in the U.K. to make a deposit, or even cash out winnings up to a certain amount.
Pros and Cons
As with most online casinos, slots are a priority. William Hill has a huge selection of slots that stretches across all genres and jackpots. The reach of William Hill goes farther than most casinos. Having such a wide market means they offer multiple currencies and languages to support almost all customers and player preferences.
One thing I didn’t like about the casino is there was too much going on. I like having ample opportunities to play games, but it felt like they decided to just cram as much as they could into one spot.
I did get used to the site somewhat, but I fear it could be too aggressive for newer players.
If you live in Europe, you have probably heard the William Hill name before. There’s good reason for that. Not many brands are as well-known as this one. They cover all realms of gambling. From their sportsbook, to the poker room. And the casino, to mobile betting.
I hate using this phrase, so please excuse me; but William Hill really is a one stop casino for your gambling needs.
